Would you like to see a raised Pavilion at Richmond Park to be used for Lyndon events in the future?Yes
Additional Comments about Richmond Park? (Optional)I think it’s a great space. The older side has equipment that isn’t really used and SHADE. The new side is nice but it’s always in direct sun which is hard in the summer. I end up avoiding bringing my kids as much as I would because it’s just so hot. The space is nice and grossly underutilized. We love the sidewalk around the perimeter for bikes and scooters.

Additional Comments about the Lyndon Fields baseball diamonds in Lyndon.(Optional)We need a parking solution! It’s great to have all of the families in town but when multiple games are going on and people are coming to next before the others have finished, it’s chaos. If I lived right by there I’d be annoyed at all the cars all along my yard and the people I see cutting across lawns when they park super far away. Plus, that time could be utilized to promote the dinner options in town to get them to stay in Lyndon for more than just the ball game. I guess Bushy’s may be all that’s left to sit down but they could order pizza from Conoco and likely some would if they knew of the options.

Streetscaping

Would you like to see the Village of Lyndon have a Streetscaping plan in the future?Yes
Additional Comments about Streetscaping in Lyndon? (Optional)I do think that when things look better, people will take more pride in what they have. I also wouldn’t want to open a business in Lyndon based on its current state and I grew up here. If I wasn’t familiar with it, there’s NO way. It doesn’t look inviting to customers. The people that come into businesses (other than gas station), do so because they are from here or connected to someone from here.
Historic Preservation
When Lyndon was first settled, the founders were instrumental in forming Whiteside County. For many years, Lyndon had many "firsts" (see below). Should the Village look for ways to celebrate, remember and preserve Lyndon's rich history? No
Additional Comments about Historic Preservation in Lyndon? (Optional)I don’t think we have to focus on the past things that really aren’t relevant/interesting to the future. We should create NEW traditions that make sense with what’s going on now and hopefully they will continue as an annual event.
Boat Launch (Small Craft)
The Village has committed to being a part of the Rock River Trail Initiative , but currently there is no access to put in your canoe/kayak. Should the Village install a small craft boat launch for residents and visitors alike?Yes
UTV Trail Systems
Would you like to see a UTV trail system connecting our nearby communities? No opinion
What do you wish for Lyndon? (Optional)I wish Lyndon had more opportunities for families. Restaurant options- not another bar or place with slots. I don’t think we should incentivize alcohol or gambling. I saw a brewery as an option on a page. Please no. I think it’d be nice for the younger people in the community to see there are OTHER things to do than participate in those activities. I think centering options around family activities / sporting would be great. If there was an elevated space at the park, you could have a set schedule to play movies in the park for families. You could utilize it to bring in a band to play and host food trucks once a month during nice weather. Maybe do a car cruise type thing like Geneseo does “Shoot the Loop.” That always is FULL of people bringing their vehicle. They love to look at other people’s vehicles and talk with each other. It’s an event type situation where they park at their park that also has the podium stage thing. Kids play and they have food options. Honestly, a lot of the things Geneseo does for families had made me consider moving our family there. Maybe you could utilize the town hall building and host a paint night or something or some other family type thing. People would show up and pay. As a parent of 3 young kids, I’m desperately trying to find things to keep them busy! I think the young adult age group is a good one to pay attention to because they will be residing here for a long time further and their kids will either choose to stay in the area or leave. No offense to the older community members. And our age group wants these things and I think you’d find help to get these things started to help benefit our own families’ and our community.
